Abstract
Huldrefortellinger is a popular science project aimed at children aged 8-12 years old, the members of the organization Miljøagentene - our collaborator in the project. The project is communicating knowledge about rare species named after the mythical creature Huldra. Such species are difficult to find and almost all live in old forests. Changes in the forest ecosystem, how it affects biodiversity and how humans change our reference state for what is considered natural, is thus an important part of what we are communicating. In the project, we have presented rare species which are unlikely to be discovered by children on their own. By showing what they look like, where to find them, and their role in the ecosystem, we give them basic knowledge about what to expect to find in the forest ecosystem and why conserving biodiveristy is important. The project has three main deliverables. 1) We have made a webpage presenting eight species, three longer texts covering different forest topics and a quiz. 2) We have delivered texts and photos equal to six pages to be published in Miljøagentrapporten in September 2022. 3) We have made four films about species and forest that are available on YouTube. The webpage and films are available for everyone, and will be published alongside Miljøagentrapporten in September 2022. The report is avaiable for members of Miljøagentene, but an additional 4500 reports will be made available for teachers to use in schools.
