Abstract
New variety-candidates and varieties of winter and malting barley having more complex resistance to leaf spot- and virus diseases, to extreme winter climatic conditions, lodging-resistance, above-average drought resistance, early ripening, excellent yield potential, good malt and brewery quality will be planned to produce by means of this competition. Chemical contamination of environment will be decreased by introduction of the new varieties, and undoubtedly better marketable goods are produced increasing the profitability of the production. In our program, resistance to the most important leaf spot diseases (Blumeria graminis, Puccinia hordei, Drechslera teres, Rhynchosporium secalis, Septoria nodorum, Ramularia collo-sygni) and virus diseases (BYDV, CYDV, WDV) and spatial diversification of leaf spot disease dominancy will be evaluated. The major properties of agricultural technics of our breeding materials will be determined in our trials. The selection of breeding materials will be carried out according to the new approach fitting our objectives. Registration of one or two variety-candidates, variety, patent is planned a year in our program.
