Abstract
(Sub-project to 838.06.060) In this subproject of ERGONema, we will scientifically focus on priority hazards that can be hypothesized from GM-plants, and we will do that not only be selecting as response endpoint groups like freeliving nematodes and parameters to represent soil fertility itself, but also by selecting the key complementary groups in order to enable a surplus (integration) value for ERGO. In that, we will merge expertise in quantitative soil ecology (to proof and quantify GM responses), existing databases (baselining and accounting for non-GM variation), an urgently felt need to validate whatever is found (to provide information of relative relevance of impacts). We will process-wise focus on reaching complementary approaches, and will support this by collaboration agreements and regular strategic research planning meetings and appointments, enabled by a strong consortium management. We will product-wise focus on publications in international peer-reviewed journals (Ecology, Ecology and Evolution, and possibly PLoS), as well as on delivering guidance and interpretation when using the results of this project in future ERA of novel GM-crops.
