Abstract
The purpose of this joint seminar is to bring together Dutch and Japanese researchers with diverse backgrounds, interested in discovery of novel microbial metabolites, their biological functions and roles in microbial communication. The objective is to decipher microbial chemical communication and to understand why, when, and where microbes produce secondary metabolites. The two teams, including experts in the fields of biochemistry, bioinformatics, microbial chemical ecology, plant-microbe interactions and biotechnology, will present their recent findings, exchange knowledge and discuss challenges and opportunities in microbial metabolite discovery and microbial chemical interactions. Furthermore, this joint seminar aims to foster networking and establish new collaborations between Dutch and Japanese senior and young experts.
