Abstract
Objectives: (1) assessing the present situation of our national capital, it’s socio-economic value; (2) developing the tools and methods for conservation, elaborating new models, methodologies and guidelines; (3) setting up the framework for the involvement of different stakeholder groups, awareness-raising actions; (4) fulfilling tasks emerging from strategies, EU directives & international agreements. Project activities are implemented in the framework of four strongly interrelated subprojects. The NATURA subproject (1) aims at enhancing the knowledge base for the conservation of species and habitats of community interest; the ECOSYSTEM-SERVICES subproject (2) entails the national mapping and assessment of ecosystems and ecosystem services; the 3. LANDSCAPE CHARACTER subproject (3) focuses on the establisment of a strategic framework for the conservation of landscape values; the GREEN INFRASTRUUCTURE subproject (4) aims at defining the strategic framework for the conservation and development of green infrastructure in Hungary. The project is financed by the European Regional Development Fund (85 %) and by the Hungarian State (15 %) as part of the Széchenyi 2020 Development Program and implemented within the framework of the Environmental and Energy Efficiency Operational Program.
