Abstract
The project focuses on three topics: 1. Composition of some arthropod assemblages (Heteroptera, Formicidae, Aculeata, Coleoptera, Auchaenorrhynca) in the different layers of apple and pear orchards (species composition, species richness, abundance, diversity). 2. Effect of the surrounding vegetation and pest management strategies on the colonisation rate of some insect species/assemblages. This study focuses on the joint effect of pesticide treatments and the neighbouring vegetation on colonisation rate of Aculeata, Coleoptera and Auchaenorrhynca assemblages. 3. Effect of different herb layer management strategies on the fauna of apple orchards. An apple orchard with integrated plant projection will be divided in three plots. The alleys will be mechanically cultivated in the first plot, the grasses in the alleys will be regularly mowed in the second one and flowering herbs will be sown in the alleys of the third plot. The effect of the different herb layers on the main pests and predators in the canopy will be investigated.
