Abstract
Our main goal is to determine the diversity and abundance of thelephoroid ectomycorrhizae in the most common Hungarian forest associations (lowland poplar and oak forests, mountain oak and beech forests) by direct root sampling from the soil using microscopical morphology and molecular taxonomic methods (PCR, RFLP, DNS sequence analysis). Further aim is to establish cultures of Thelephora-ectomycorrhiza to obtain a model system for investigating physiological and bichemical processes of the symbiotic relationship.
