Abstract
The CONSDEV project has the objective of defining public policy options, which allows a better governance of coastal and marine protected areas (CMPAs). The project will gather together for three years European Community and African social scientists and ecologists. It has, as its main work packages, the achievement of an assessment of CMPAs as a vector of conservation and development, the analysis of the economic systems of the CMPAs, the CMPAs governance and lastly the definition of public policy options.
