Abstract
Summary Objective: To design a robust method for integrating the information on each good environmental status GES descriptor to form an overall assessment of GES, taking account of variations in outcomes due to changes in monitoring scales and different levels of uncertainty. Key Customer Purpose: The Marine Strategy Framework Directive requires member states to develop marine strategies to achieve good environmental status (GES) in marine waters by 2020, with reference to a high level vision and a number of specific descriptors of GES. This research will support UK to fulfil its obligations under the EU MSFD in a coordinated way, and contribute to work within OSPAR and Europe to deliver effective and pragmatic solutions for the MSFD implementation.
