Abstract
An assessment of the character of greens based on a semi-randomised representative sample (200) of information gathered by the Women’s Institute across England (circa 1990), supplemented by information available from online aerial and ground imagery. Using information from the WI data forms, and from maps, Google Earth or other available imagery, identify the characteristics of each green in detail: •Location •Vegetation •Aspect/view •Barriers •Residences •Structures •Evidence of events and meetings •Time depth •Use for sports •Children’s Play Facilities •Management (community, local authority, privately) Provide brief summary report of the above, c 10 pages, drawing out evidence of characterisation. To include the results of the above analysis in spreadsheet format. The contractor is required to use initiative to develop an appropriate methodology to identify features which may assist in identifying the character of greens, possibly including adjustment to the specification above, and inclusion of supplementary data. The contractor is required to extract the data in such a way that all remaining data (concerning greens not selected at this stage) could be subject to a similar analysis at a later stage, without needing to revisit existing sheets. Project length is 20 days and will report by end March 2011.
