Abstract
Good quality information is essential for conservation action and policy development. The extent of coastal vegetated shingle is poorly known and out of date and trends in this rare and scarce dynamic habitat cannot be determined, The use of remotely sensed, ground-truthed data will provide a new baseline that combines extent and quality of the habitat, which can be shared between relevant bodies and updated in a consistent way.
