Abstract
Defra understands that there are inconsistencies in the implementation of the Zoo Licensing Act 1981 by local authorities. Comprehensive information is needed to enable an assessment to be made of the extent and nature of any problems, and to assist in the consideration of whether any administrative or legislative changes are needed.
