Abstract
Summary Objective: The current spawning and nursery ground maps need to be updated to take account of new survey data. This project will allow an update to be made for a number of fish species which are also being considered as part of the designation of marine protected areas under the Marine and Coastal Access Bill. Data from a range of sources will be put into a standard database and used to develop GIS layers of both spawning grounds and nursey grounds. Key Customer Purpose: The results will be used by Defra as part of the selection of Marine Conservation Zones. Its also likely that these data layers will be of use to other parts of the department involved in fisheries management activities.
