Abstract
The Wildlife and Countryside R&D and non R&D programmes aim to support the evidence requirements of three Defra policy divisions namely (1) European Wildlife Division, (2) Global Wildlife Division, and (3) Sponsorship, Landscape, and Recreation. The purpose of this review is to assess the effectiveness of the research projects commissioned through the programme over the study period in terms of the extent to which they have proved useful to the Department in the formulation, monitoring and execution of policy, and make recommendations on the future composition and management of the programme.
