Abstract
The project will improve the awareness of clients, developers, designers. Lenders and financiers about the environmental, technical, and financial benefits of trees and other green infrastructure in the built environment. It will also provide practical guidance for architects, designers, surveyors, house-builders and construction professionals on the planning, planting and maintaining green infrastructure, particularly large landscape trees in new developments. The main objectives are to: •provide an evidence base of the economic benefits of large landscape trees •improve understanding of the impact of roots on foundations •review and demonstrate the benefits trees in the built environment can have in adapting to climate change. •sign post all relevant guidance on the subject In doing so it will:- Improve the awareness of the funding sector about the benefits of green infrastructure, particularly large landscape trees for the built environment; encourage the inclusion of large trees in the built environment; help the technical sector understand the different issues related to trees for new build; and improve understanding between different professionals dealing with trees in the built environment.
