Abstract
Proposals for the revised Nitrate Vulnerable Zone (NVZ) Action Programme measures set limits on the farm average nitrogen (N) rate that may be applied to specified crops, taking account of minimum values of manure N efficiency. The project work will design, programme and test a software tool that will calculate the farm average maximum N rate that is either planned or has been applied on a farm, and will check this rate against the maximum N rate (Nmax) limit as described in Defra's Consultation on proposals to revise NVZs and Action Programme (August 2007).
