Abstract
The project will: •Establish a robust assessment of the condition of Biodiversity Action Plan priority woodland sites and Annex 1 (Habitats Directive) types across England outside the protected site system, but comparable in form to that used for SSSI monitoring. •To provide preliminary recommendations on management requirements for non-SSSI priority woodland sites based on these findings •Assess the potential to extend this approach if desired to other countries in the UK. Condition assessment will be based on a stratified sample of woodlands taken from the National Inventory of Trees and Woodland.
