Description
This thematic programme ‘Antarctic tourism - Research Programme on Assessment of Impacts and Responses (PT-REPAIR) of the Dutch Research Agenda (NWA) is stimulates polar tourism research that will enhance our knowledge of polar tourism’s (cumulative) impacts in support of (inter)national policymaking to protect the Netherlands’ Polar Strategy and Antarctic Treaty values. Aim and objectives PT-REPAIR consists of two phases: firstly for full proposals (phase I) and secondly a phase in which the awarded consortia of phase I will submit a synthesis proposal. PT-REPAIR has four research lines: 1. Current and future developments in/of Antarctic tourism (trend assessment). 2. Negative and positive effects of Antarctic tourism operations in situ. 3. Effective Antarctic tourism (impact) governance strategy (response strategies and scenarios). 4. Framework for concrete policy recommendations and options for action (including impact monitoring) (knowledge for concrete response). International cooperation is crucial in polar research. The Money follows Cooperation module enables applications to involve foreign researchers in the proposed research.
